On January 31, "Amur" started a two-game series against "Sibir". The away games against the rival brought only one point to "Amur".  The elimination of the point-deficit could bring the Tigers closer to the ninth place – the line occupied by the Novosibirsk team. The fact that the Ushenin brothers were getting out on the ice for the first time after a long break, not wearing the uniform of the Tigers, was definitely making this meeting more special.

At the start, the teams showed equal game. It got noticeably different after the first goal scored.  Its author was Kirill Rasskazov, and the goal turned out to be quite a sight – turnaround, backhand shot into the top corner. Hynek Zohorna, who was playing his 100 game in the KHL, distinguished himself with an assist. In the remaining time, which was almost 12 minutes, the home team was dominating on the ice. Gorshkov, Polunin and Butuzov had good scoring chances. The teams left for the break with the score 1:0, with a two-time lead of the home team in the number of shots made – 12:6.

 At the start of the second period, the visiting team was hit by a cold shower, switched on by Dominic Masin with his cannon shot from the center of the zone.  The rival could not repeat the spectacular goal scoring. Evgeny Alikin blocked all 20 shots and increased the chances of getting his first shutout in the season. "Amur", on the contrary, was able to stretch its lead when Mikhasyonok hit Sateri's net with his wrist shot in the middle of the period.

The visiting team owned the remaining 20 minutes.  "Sibir" hit the opponent with 14 shots. Most of them were during PP time, which the Novosibirsk team got in the second third of the period. Within the one-minute interval, the arbitrators imposed two sentences. The Tigers had to pay for one of them. Shooting from the face-off circle, Sharov stole a shutout from Alikin. However, Alikin failed to cope only with this threat, having turned aside the attempts of the brothers’ duet as well, who had plenty of desire to score today.  Three minutes before the end of the third period, the visiting team pulled the goalie, making the ending even brighter. However, the attempts of "Amur" to score in an empty net and shots, flying towards the Alikin's possessions did not affect the score. The result is 3:1. The next time the rivals will meet on February 2.
