“Amur” (Khabarovsk). It was founded in 1957.

Ice hockey appeared in Khabarovsk in the 50s of the twentieth century. In the winter of 1957, the District Officers House had organized a team named “Zalp”1, which was later on developed into the team “SKA”2 (Khabarovsk).

The first documented ice hockey match was held in Khabarovsk in 1958. The team of the regional capital and the team of the Chinese city of Harbin took part in it. The first teams of Khabarovsk played in the Championship of the city; the SKA players also took part in the tournament of the Far Eastern Military District. It was here in Khabarovsk where Ivan Tregubov and Nikolai Sologubov, the legends of Soviet hockey, had started their careers.

In 1966, the Russian SFSR Sports Committee decided to create the zonal tournament of the national ice hockey championship of “B” class in the Far East. Five teams appeared in this zone, including the Khabarovsk SKA. Gennady Tsygankov, one of the most famous defenders of domestic hockey, a native of the village of Vanino of the Khabarovsk Territory, played for the army team in the first season.

In 1969, the Khabarovsk SKA won the right to play in “A” class of the Second League of the Country Championship. 20 years later, in the 1988/89 season, the army club won the transition tournament for the right to play in the First League of the Union Championship.

A new era in life of the Khabarovsk SKA has started in the 1995/1996 season, when the Khabarovsk Territory administration and the gold-mining cooperative “Amur” undertook the main financial burden to support the team. The SKA team became the winners of the Russian Hockey Championship at the first stroke and won the ticket to the domestic hockey elite - the Championship of the Russian Hockey League.

In 1998, the club was renamed as "Amur". During its performance in the Championship of the Russian Hockey League and the Super League, the Khabarovsk team had played four times in the playoff series. The highest result of that period was the 9th place in the 2000/2001 Championship.

Since 2008, “Amur” has been a regular member of the Continental Hockey League. The Khabarovsk team took part in the Gagarin Cup twice (the seasons of 2011/12 and 2017/18).

The Khabarovsk club has trained many famous hockey players for domestic hockey. Among them are: Alexander Mogilny, a member of the Triple Golden Club; the Olympic champions - Gennady Tsygankov, Artyom Zub and Mikhail Grigorenko; the winners and the prize-winners of the World Championships and Youth Championships - Sergey Plotnikov, Stanislav Bocharov, Georgiy Berdyukov, Evgeny Grachev, Sergey Boykov and Kirill Slepets.
